{#28} “Aurora Borealis” © April 15, 2016

Never to appear before thine eyes again
Thus
Desperate hands stretching out into the evening sky
Fingers elongated
Grasping for it
As it’s not much farther
Trying to touch all the beauty it holds
Flickering high
Is the essence of everything desirable
Must run further to catch it
Faster
Must run faster and try harder
Heart pounding
Just a little farther
All physical means have now been exhausted
Slurred speech cries out
“WAIT”
Tripping and tumbling
Falling to the ground
Crying
Sobbing
It’s all over now
Fading away is the lustrous glow
And as it was written long ago
The presence of such splendor
Will never to appear before thine eyes again
Aurora Borealis
